KHS Counselors

‚Äč

Dear KHS Students and Parents,

The window to request schedule changes has now closed. Because students have the opportunity to opt in and out of KVA and In Person Learning, counselors will need to balance class sizes throughout the semester. Please understand that students schedules may change throughout the semester.

From this point forward, the only changes we will honor are:

  1. Level changes as recommended by teachers and counselors with parental knowledge and principal approval. See timeline below.

  2. Change in the program (athletics, band, choir, orchestra, etc), which will require a coach or director approval.

After the 10th day of the semester, students are unable to enter a new course. Therefore, an exit from a fine art program will result in a study hall placement, and an exit from an athletic program will result in PE or study hall placement.

KVA students in CTE courses who are unable to meet the face to face lab component will be placed in a study hall. *Please keep in mind that no credit is earned in a study hall course.

To request one of the above changes, please complete the Course Level Change Request.

Again, thank you for your patience and understanding in this unusual year!

Timeline for Level Changes (Moving from KAP/AP course to academic level course):

Friday, September 11th at 3:00PM will be the last opportunity to drop a KAP/AP course and move to the academic level course. After this date, only students with failing grades at the end of a six weeks grading period will be moved to the academic equivalent course. See the excerpt from the KISD Secondary Grading and Recording Handbook:
