8660V Practicum in STEM (2 credits) Grade: 12
This project-based course builds upon STEM design fundamentals while incorporating project work and project management principles. Working mostly in teams, students will learn the business aspects of project work and of the profession itself including its methodologies for organizing, managing, analyzing, and executing the entire project process. The design process will be applied to projects as students create engineering design solutions using software, illustrations, and modeling techniques. Students may have the opportunity to gain experience through field trips, guest speakers, and job shadowing.

Why take Practicum in STEM and what type of experience will students gain?
MCTC provides students with a true experience and understanding of the profession. The course content focuses on real-life applications of engineering, both in lesson content and project work. We provide a fun but realistic familiarity to students on the requirements, time commitment, and dedication it takes to pursue a career in engineering. Once completed with these courses, students should be able to make a sound and educated decision in their future careers in this industry.
Can you earn a certification while taking Practicum in STEM at MCTC?
Yes. After the completion of Practicum in STEM, you will be prepared to take the certification exam for either AutoCAD, Revit, or Inventor, all 3 of which are design/drafting software programs used in the industry.
