Welcome to Music at OKE!
Whether classroom activities, grade level performances, or choir, every child has the opportunity to make musical memories that will last a lifetime!
Classroom: In each music class, students will learn fundamental musical concepts through the use of playing singing games, classroom instruments, learning folk dances, and other hands-on experiences.
Grade Level Musicals: in the 2021-2022 school year, all 4th grade students will participate in a grade level musical. The 4th grade musical is in November. Try-outs are not necessary unless the student wishes to be considered for a speaking or solo singing part.
Choir: Each fifth grade student is invited to participate in the extra-curricular Outback Singers Choir which meets every Wednesday and Friday morning from 7:20 am to 8:10 am. The Outback Singers is a non-auditioned choir and is open to all 5th grade students who have a desire to sing, have passing grades, and have OKE expected conduct. This choir has many performance opportunities throughout the year, some on the OKE campus and some away. The performances away include being invited to sing at a Rice University football game or a Tompkins High School football game, taking a singing field trip throughout the community in December, and performing at Moody Gardens in the spring. All other performance dates and times, forms, dress requirements, and additional information will be posted on the Outback Singers course in Canvas.
